It’s with heavy hearts that we had to bid farewell to longtime CRM team member George Krisher, who passed away recently age 70. George was an avid motorcyclist for most of his adult life, serving as a member and officer of both the local law enforcement riding club The Blue Knights and with the local Honda Rider’s Association. His affinity for long days on two wheels made George a perfect fit for Cafe Racer magazine where he wore many different hats over the years. For most of them, George operated an over-the-road motorcycle hauling service where he’d cheerfully load-up whatever non-running machines were in the CRM garage and haul them to far-away destinations for repairs. His overwhelmingly upbeat, positive attitude made these journeys an undeniable pleasure and I’d often volunteer to join him on road trips just to listen to his hilarious, often X-rated tales from his days spent as an Allegheny County police officer and, before that, a member of the Army’s fabled 2nd Armored Division.
It seldom mattered whether George was asked to work the Bike Show sign-in booth each August or to man the phones for our customer call-in service, he always graciously accepted the challenge, smiling and finding something to laugh about along the way. As evidence of how cheerful, insightful and downright likeable George could be, many of his regular customers who reached out to CRM whenever George was away or vacationing, were genuinely dissappointed that they’d missed a chance to shoot teh breeze with such an affable character.
In his absence, our sales team’s leader Ann Curtis has taken over the phone sales duties and we’ve accepted that we’ve lost a true original in George Krisher. We hope he’s still twisting a throttle wherever he lands!
