ROCKERS vs. MODS Dallas

When: Friday, March 26 through Sunday, March 28; Kick-Off Party from 8 p.m. 'til 2 a.m.

Where: Belmont Hotel, Dallas; Amsterdam Bar; Lee Harvey's

What to Expect: Beer, barbecue, British bikes. That and plenty of vintage scooters, parts and accessories vendors and ride-outs along some choice Lone Star State highways. Expect cafe racer enthusiasts from throughout the Southwest to dust off their rides for this good-time event that will be covered in full by Cafe Racer magazine. Daily rides throughout the greater Dallas area are on tap, along with an open house Saturday afternoon at Big D Cycles who are also sponsoring a cookout and ride. An impressive roster of bands has been assembled for the gig at the Amsterdam bar on Saturday night, which should satisfy mods, rockers, punks, ska-heads and everybody in between.

Get Loaded

Selbyville, Delaware's Loaded Gun Customs know their way around every type of fast, stylish transport from import tuners to classic American hot rods, and, naturally, cafe racer motorbikes. They're combining all three in a stewpot containing live, rockin' swing music from the Gas House Gorillas, a Pin-Up Girl Pageant,   vintage clothing, cold beer and more fun than you can shake a vintage bowling shirt at. It all kicks off on Saturday, May 22 at 1 p.m. at the Steer Inn Tavern, located on Racetrack Road. Be there or be very, tragically square. Click the image at right for more info.

Bikes, Birds, Beer and Bitchin' Cars..Otherwise, Everything You Need!
New England's New English

Mods and Rockers rides are springing up all over North America at a rate that would have had the Brighton Royal Constabulary sweatin' beneath their Bobby's helmets. Thankfully, events like the upcoming Mods and Rockers Day in Plainfield, Connecticut are groovy, peaceful events. This shindig is now in its second year and brings together scooter enthusiasts, roots rock fans and cafe racer riders from throughout that leafy, green part of our country known coloquoially as New England. Saturday, June 19 is the date, with more up-to-date information awaiting you at www.rockersct.com

Michigan Madness

Who says motor culture in Michigan is as dead as the U.S. automotive industry? Certainly not the folks from Cafe Racer Ypsi,a  new vintage motorcycle repair shop located in, well, Ypsilanti, Michigan. They've joined forces with the estimable Ray Peabody from Midwest Motorcyclist magazine to arrange the first cafe culture day in their state. Ton-Up 2010 Motorcycle and Music Festival kicks off on Saturday, June 26 with a day of live bands, cool bikes, a custom scooter show (expect more mirrors than a Revlon sales counter) and the rare chance to have your machine shot by a professional photograoher for posterity. There should also be vendors, beer and a chance to meet like-minded folks from throughout the Midwest. Call (734) 879-1202 for more or click the flyer on the right for a quick link.

Time again for the Annual Ton-Up Day at Jack's Hill Cafe on buccolic Watling Street in Towcester, England. This is the annual gathering of the tribes of old school Coffee Bar Cowboys and Rockers from the '50s and '60s, replete with DJ The Rocketeer spinning roots rock tunes, live music from The Rapiers and Mike Berry. There will also be plenty of vintage gear vendors, warm beer and a cafe racer bike show. July 25 is the date. You can call 01604 761005 if you'd like to take part.
